Midterm Update

I am alive!! Studied way too much this week but it was well worth it. I love the feeling of knowing about the subject you're taking the exam in (seems logical but doesn't always happen). I whipped through my exams this week in record times and hope my grades are good. It is a good thing I love school and learning or else college would be a true detriment to my life. I hear people complain all the time about tests and homework. I too can get a little overwhelmed but it's always a good overwhelmed. I love learning and reading about social groups and psychological terms and concepts... that's why I am majoring in them! You would think people would enjoy what they choose to concentrate in but maybe not. Or maybe they are just big complainers (which I can't stand!!).

Any who... I just wanted to update how excited I was that my midterms turned out well and are OVER. I will edit this post once I find out the grades... let's hope I am as excited about that. :)

9/28-10/2

Oh boy... midterms are here. I must say that this week is going to be the hardest week of the semester thus far. I have two midterm exams both worth 1/3 of my grade in the class, Psychological Theories of Personality and Statistics. Wish me luck! I am going to be studying my booty off like crazy these next few days. In addition to the midterms, I have in class quizzes in two other classes as well. Quizzes are supposed to be easier and shorter but usually they are just shorter. You never know what to expect on those little things! I like being busy and I can totally handle a crazy academic week like this one so I am up for the challenge but I am already wishing it was Friday.

I am also house sitting for a coworker this week so I will be in a different environment during all this mayhem. Pros: plenty of quiet time to study and keep to myself. Cons: no breaks of laughter from the siblings or parents. We will see how it goes! My vegetarian adventure starts next Sunday so I should be eating all the meat I can this last week. :)

Hope you all have a lovely week!

Dose of Country

My favorite country song (original by George Strait) performed by my favorite country gal (Taylor Swift). This song makes me think of Mike <3

Plain Happy

I was just pondering (like I always do) and I realized that my man friend and I have never been in a fight/argument longer than 24 hours. As strange and unusual as that may sound it is true. That makes me love him even more. Whenever we have a problem or issue with one another we talk it out. Communication is the key to every relationship and we have it. This makes me happy. :)

Complicated

It just dawned on me... no matter how many compliments, pep talks, encouraging words, listening conversations or cry fests I have with my girlfriends... they still will do what they want to do and obsess over what they always obsess over and think the way they always think. In a way I am a little bitter because why waste my time in rationalizing something that they are thinking in an irrational, emotional way? Most girls act with their heart and not with their minds... I guess I should stop using mine to help them then. Don't get me wrong, I will still listen and let them vent and give them quick tips or try to think of solutions but I am not going to assume they take anything I say to heart or seriously. I'm just a friend. Who needs my advice right? Stop kidding yourself Tanya, just take care of you.

Numero Seis

My sixth concert (and from the looks of it, last concert of the year) was Blink 182 featuring Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Asher Roth this past Thursday and it was a great show! Almost hit the five hour mark and left me feeling "rocky." All six of the "Blink crew" had an awesome time and here are some of the pictures!

Love Letters

Dear Summer,
It's been a nice few months with you. I loved the warm weather you provided me and the nice tan I got but those positives are now seemingly not as important. I love you and I know our love will continue to grow when we part because I will want you again in about six months. Until then, take care and try not to disappear completely. I know I'll see you from time to time during Autumn. Thanks for all you did for me these last couple of months. It is greatly appreciated.
Love,
Tanya

I am so ready to bust out the scarves and coats. I want to wear shoes without getting my feet sweaty. I want peppermint mochas and caramel apple spices. I want to cuddle up with a blanket in my living room. I want my birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas to all arrive. Mostly, I want below 80 degree weather.

Dear Autumn,
I miss you and please come home soon. I love you.
Love,
Tanya

Happy Birthday Lil Sas

Today marks my cat Sassy's twelfth birthday. She was born 9/16/97. I got her for my ninth birthday and have been in love ever since. She listens to my problems and knows when I am down. It might sound stupid or lame but it is true! Even though she is a helpless animal and needs me to feed her and give her back rubs... I still love my little fur ball. Happy Birthday Sas!

Week 4, already!

It is already week 4 of the semester and this has been the wake up to the new semester. I had a quiz today, a paper due tomorrow and a paper due Thursday. All are pretty much on the way to being completely finished and then I can relax and enjoy my Thursday and Friday off from work! I will be at the Blink 182 concert this Thursday rocking out to Weezer, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth & of course yours truly... Blink! My friends and I made shirts that spell out b-L-i-n-k-182. Goofy I know but when else am I going to get away with something so dumb? Never! We have to live in the moment and I'm going to strut my "n" on my chest proudly! I am so excited to have a blast with some of my closest friends. I am also excited to have my boyfriend all to myself the following day on Friday. I took the day off just so we can hang and not have to worry about work post-concert minded. Should be an intense end of the week. I deserve it for all the homework and studying I put into my mind over the past weekend.

P.S. Sassy's Birthday is Wednesday as well :) My little fur ball will be twelve years old on 9/16!

No Meat?

Me? Tanya? No meat? Vegetarian? Say it isn't so!!!!!

... yes, I will be going vegetarian for about two weeks (maybe a month if I am feeling up to it). The attempt to cut out all delicious beef and chicken is going to be a "Lifestyle Project" given by my Environmental Sociology professor. It was give up meat or give up plastic. I personally would love to give up plastic as well and will make an attempt but the challenge of "veggies only" is far greater than that of plastic. It will be an interesting project and I am looking forward to my journey of this new venture of no meat. I'll make sure to blog about it when it starts because I know I will definitely have some temptations along the way. Good thing I can stand tofu and soy burgers huh?

Loukoumathes Galore!

Labor Day is finally here and you know what that means... bye bye Summer. Officially. Even though I started school two weeks ago this three day weekend was the mark of upcoming Fall. The weekend was spectacular; I went to the movies (saw Extract), babysat Jennie, made shirts for the upcoming Blink 182 concert, did homework, went to the Orange Circle Street Fair and spent time with the family and friends.

The highlight of the weekend was the Street Fair. Usually I try to go every Labor Day weekend but missed last year so this year was filled with built up excitement. Mike, Matt, Sarah, Luke and I (the Blink 182 crew) headed out to the Orange Circle on Sunday and was ready with our cash for great food and beer (for the 21 and over crowd). I had great tasting brats, bangers, pizza, gyros and these Greek sandwiches but the best edible thing I purchased was the
loukoumathes. The best Greek dessert ever!! They are these honey dipped fried sweet pastries that were delectable! I could eat those everyday. To sum up the night, Mike got drunk because he wanted to use his money for beer instead of food and I got really full because I ate a little bit of everything. In addition to the Blink crew, I saw my bff from high school Lizz and her boyfriend Eddie. We ran into Alvin and Adriana (who were both a little tipsy)... it was just a great night with great Irish music and good company. Can't wait until next Labor Day!

Tomorrow is back to the grind but with one less day in the week. Hope you enjoy your shortened work/school week. :)

Reassurance

A lovely dinner and movie with my boyfriend is all it takes to make me fall in love again. Last night's "date night" was magnificent.
Simple and sweet, how I like it.

By the Way...

It's two months until my 21st birthday :D

and... I need a haircut. Bad.

Self-Evaluation

It is often hard to look at yourself and pin point your flaws. I figure that in order to make a change in my flaws I must acknowledge what they are first. No one is perfect, including me. No matter how right I think I am or how stubborn I may get, I still have weaknesses in my own personality... including my stubbornness.

I have recently been noticing these imperfections within myself. I don't dwell on them all day but I do know that they reside in me. I am stubborn, over-analytical, critical and anal but I can also be forgiving, open-minded, loving and compliant. Why do the soft features sometimes get overlooked and the perceptions of who I am and what I am all about is represented by harsh features? I thought it was your actions that speak louder than words, not your facial expressions.

I want to change my "flaws" and I want to be better but can someone really change who they are? I know I was probably not born stubborn but how do I undo what I have already lived? I will try to be more accepting and less critical of those around me because I know it takes a toll on my friendships, relationship and family bonds. Even though I may sounds judgmental, I may be thinking a completely different thing. I guess I am the only one who knows how I truly feel about any certain subject. Some people may like the fact that I am harsh and straight to the point. I guess life kicks your ass sometimes and I guess it's how I deal with these situations that will lead to happiness with myself and others.
