The project is off to a great start with the first movie completed! Actually Mike and I watched both 100 and 99 of AFI's top 100 American movies of all time this past weekend. The last on the list was Yankee Doodle Dandy starring James Cagney. Wow. I had never experienced a film like this, maybe because it was directed in 1942, maybe because it was in black and white, or maybe because it was so witty and fast paced. This movie opened my eyes to a special appreciation of the past. It is amazing how with movies and entertainment caught on film we can experience a snapshot in history through movies any day of the year. This movie was a great musical and Cagney was a great actor. Had I not started this project I would not even know who James Cagney was. Boy am I glad that I do. This movie was a great start to the rest of the 99 to go.

Cagney had a way with emotions flowing out of his facial expressions. Truly brilliant!
